Japanese media said that China's large car battery company, Ningde Age New Energy Technology (CATL), will enter the Japanese market. It will set up a sales office in Japan in late May and send battery technicians to stay in Japan in 2018 to provide support for customer development. Ningde Times plans to double global battery capacity to 50GWh by 2020 (1 gigawatt hour = 1 million kWh).
According to the website of Nippon Economic News on May 10, the company will get orders by supporting Japanese automobile companies that are close to accelerating the transition to pure electric vehicles (EV).

In addition to China, it also plans to build battery production plants in Europe and the United States. In 2017, the company's battery capacity will be 23GWh, which will increase to 30GWh by the end of 2019 and 50GWh by 2020.
Reported that the Ningde era battery shipments in 2017 seems to reach 12GWh. Techno Systems Research, a research firm, pointed out that "Ningde era shipments in 2017 increased about twice as much as the previous year, and grew fastest in the field of on-board batteries. As a manufacturer with capacity exceeding 10 GWh, it is becoming the world's largest battery company comparable to Panasonic.
